The fifth New Museum Triennial, "Soft Water Hard Stone", is on view through January 23th 2022. This exhibition brings together works across mediums by 40 artists and collectives living in 23 countries. "Soft Water and Hard Stone" is co-curated by Margot Norton, Allen and Lola Goldring Curator at the New Museum, and Jamillah James, Senior Curator, The Institute of Contemporary Art, LA, with Jeannette Bisschops, Curatorial Fellows, and Bernando Mosqueira, ISLAA Curatorial Fellow. Inspired by a Brazilian proverb that alludes to the possibility of transformation against all odds of impermeabitliy, the theme of exhibitions are impermanence, erosion, disease, and survival, etc. Throughout the exhibition, artists address "the regeneratvie capabilities of the natural world and our inseparable relationship to it, and grapple with entrenched legacies of colonialism, displacement, and violence."
