Arario Museum in Space presents Taijung Um’s solo exhibition Dream and Rejoice of Silver Wings from August 24 2022 to February 26 2023.

When Taijung Um was a student at Seoul National University in the 1960s, he was fascinated by the materiality of iron and entered the path of metal sculpture, and was influenced by the modern abstract sculpture art of Constantine Brancusi (1876-1957). For him, who has faced and devoted himself to a metal with all his body and mind for more than half a century, sculpture art is the process of thinking about things, approaching the essence inherent in them, and discovering the true me.

The exhibition also features Taijung Um's latest works, as well as unpublished works from his formative period (the 1960s), flat surfaces, drawings, and works from the 1970s and 1980s. In contrast to the smooth surface and the youthful work of the 1970s, which seems to unleash rough inner energy, the latest piece in old age presents a quiet, gentle, deep-seated work. A healing space that embraces the surroundings free from unnecessary greed or obsession-Through sculpture work, you can experience a healing time where you face, think, and enlighten yourself in a space full of beautiful energy.
