The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) presents PROJECT HASHTAG 2022 from November 6, 2022, to April 9, 2023. PROJECT HASHTAG, hosted by MMCA and sponsored by Hyundai Motor Company, is an open public contest launched in 2019 to discover next-generation creators and leaders in the art scene and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.

PROJECT HASHTAG 2022, its third contest, extends beyond the limits of the domain of art to discover, support, and engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with artists, writers, producers, and researchers from different fields. The showcase of PROJECT HASHTAG 2022 introduces Lost Air and Crypton, two winners of this year’s contest, and their works that point out today’s political and socio-cultural issues exploring the underground music scene as well as a virtual ecosystem.

This project presents a set of intriguing perspectives of young creators and their interesting approaches to the major challenges that face society today in the shift to a new era of endemic Covid‒19. This showcase offers an opportunity to examine the importance of art museums to maintain the experimental attitude and eventually shows PROJECT HASHTAG’s role as a platform that encourages the creation of new perspectives.
