Jungyoon Hyen takes interest in the relationships formed between society, individuals, and communities. The artist references different aspects of beings that operate their everyday lives within their situated power dynamics. Hyen's sculptures contain body parts (including expressions, body language, rhythm, and more). The artist goes through a process of clustering and subjectifying these sculptures. Then she uses this process to fluidly map out chronological events. This allows her to explore various ways to meditate on subjects and imagine the formations of new communities. Hyen’s recent interest lies in projecting certain behaviors on sculptures and treating the sculptures as actors. Hence the exhibitions become their stage. The artist proposes various scenarios by meticulously controlling the sculptures' gaze and their roles within the said stages.
